How To Remove Chlorine From Tap Water

The World Health Organization pointed out in the drinking water guidelines that the risk of disinfection by-products in water is much smaller than that of non-sterilized water, which includes residual chlorine.

Harmful effects of chlorine:

Chlorine is a strong irritating gas. It mainly acts on the bronchi and bronchioles, and can also act on the alveoli, causing bronchospasm, bronchitis and peribronchitis, and can cause toxic pulmonary edema when inhaled in large amounts.

3 types of Common dechlorination methods are:

1. Since the residual chlorine in tap water is very unstable, just put it in the sun for two hours.

2. Install an activated carbon filter or install a water purifier containing activated carbon to remove residual chlorine in tap water.

3. Vitamin C has reducing properties and can neutralize chlorine gas. Put 1-2 tablets of vitamin C in 5 liters of water and wait for it to melt to achieve a small amount of residual chlorine removal.

The role of dechlorination:

1. As a disinfectant

Chlorine gas can be used as a disinfectant, which emits a special smell and is easy to produce organic chlorine compounds, so chlorine dioxide (CIO?) is often used instead of chlorine gas as a water disinfectant.

2. Bleaching

Wet chlorine gas is different from the bleaching property of SO?, which can be used for bleaching pulp and cotton cloth. Dry chlorine gas does not have this property.
